Formed in 1991 in Boston, Massachusetts, by lead vocalist and guitarist Spider One (born Michael Cummings), the band initially started as a project called "Powerman" before adopting the name Powerman 5000. Their debut album, The Blood-Splat Rating System (1999), showcased their distinctive sound, combining aggressive guitar riffs with electronic beats and catchy hooks. The band's lineup during this period included Spider One's brother, Rob Zombie, as well as members Adam 12 (guitar), M.33 (bass), and Tim Earls (drums).
